Yellow Class (Year 1)

Welcome to Yellow Class!

The class team is made up of myself (Sarah), the class teacher, and our three teaching assistants who are Gloria, Saudi and Tina.

This year, we will be covering three topics:

The Famous Five (Autumn Term 2022)

This topic focuses on Five Famous people across history who have contributed to national and international achievements. We will be learning about Christopher Columbus (concept of floating and sinking, sea travel), Neil Armstrong (light and dark, space travel), Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole (people who help us now and in the past), and Guy Fawkes (Bonfire and Night Celebrations). You can find more information on this term here: Topic Sheet The Famous Five

Where the Wild things are (Spring Term 2023)

This topic focuses on animals and their habitats. We will learn about different animals as well as the conditions they need to thrive. We will use different recyclable materials to create different animals.

The Seaside (Summer Term 2023)

This topic explores the seaside. We will engage in role play activities (for example, packing a bag for a holiday to the seaside). The class will listen to sounds that are commonly heard at the seaside while building sandcastles.

Please follow the link to see what we are learning: Curriculum Maps We are working in Year B this year.

The Yellow Class Team and I are looking forward to the year ahead and witnessing your child’s progress. Please use the Home/School Communication book if you have any questions.

Kind regards,

Sarah and the Yellow Class Team
