Welcome to Yellow Class

The Yellow Class teacher is Funmi.

 

Maths

Throughout the term, we will be looking at all the areas of maths as well as working on our individual goals, which you can see on the Curriculum Goals sheet.

 

Number

  • we will be learning 1-1 correspondence and extending this to addition and subtraction. We will be learning about the process of transaction.

Measure

  • we will be learning to recognise different coins, how to accurately weigh different materials and how to order objects by size or length.

Geometry

  • we will be learning to recognise and group different 2D and 3D shapes, and to follow and create repeating patterns.

Literacy and Communication

In Literacy we will be working on our individual goals throughout the term, which you can see on My Curriculum Goals Sheet.

 

Phonics

  • we will be following the Little Wandle scheme, at our own individual pace. Some of us will be working on recognising different letter sounds, some of us will be learning to blend letter sounds together to read words.

Reading

  • comprehension: We will be learning to answer questions about familiar texts and how to recount information from a story. 

Writing

  • we will be learning to mark-make with more purpose and accuracy, some of us will be learning how to form letters.

Knowledge and Understanding of the World

Geography / Science

  • we will be learning about seasons and the weather and what we need to wear in different weather conditions. We will be learning about the properties of different types of materials and how we can group these.

History

  • we will be learning to recognise ourselves and others in recent images and recognising how things can change over time.

RE

  • we will be learning about what light means and exploring the story of Diwali.

ICT

  • we will be learning how to use ICT in a functional context and how to interact with others using ICT.

Physical and Social Development

(PE and PSHE)

PE

  • as well as developing our basic skills, such as balancing, climbing and catching, we will be focusing on jumping and how we can improve our technique.

PSHE

  • we will be learning about different body parts and personal hygiene.
  • we will be working on recognising our own emotions as well as emotions in others and how we should react to these.
  • we will be working on sharing and turn-taking.

Creative Development

(Art, Music, DT)

Art

  • we will explore the weather topic through a wide range of activities, including painting, collage, printing, drawing and mosaic. We will create individual pieces and also larger shared pieces in small groups or as a whole class.

DT

  • we will be baking or cooking a new dish every week, exploring different equipment and materials and learning new techniques.

Music

  • we will be learning to follow different musical instructions and how to play instruments in a variety of ways.
